Every Friday morning, you'll get 1 actionable tip to make your consultancy more valuable, impactful and fulfilling in less than 4 minutes.
When you're a solo consultant (or part of a small team), it's easy to get trapped in your own bubble, head down, focused solely on delivery. You finish a project, breathe a sigh of relief, and move on.
But then, weeks later, you revisit your work and spot all the improvements you could have made. Sometimes you can fix it; often, it's too late.
The reality is clear: when you’re deep in your work, especially your own marketing, you need another set of eyes to catch what you simply can’t see yourself.
I recently learned this lesson again while planning our upcoming Consultancy Growth Club Breakthrough Day event.
I’m fortunate to have an advisory team, including branding expert Giles Etherington, whose fresh perspective helped me shape the day’s promotion. Giles articulated our community as "a room full of brilliant minds". Simple, powerful, clear. I'd never have seen it myself.
But the real wake-up call came from speaking with a prospect and then my wife. Both independently pointed out something obvious I’d missed: there was no direct link on my website to details about the Breakthrough Day. 🤦♂️
Without these external perspectives, I’d still be in my bubble, wondering why sign-ups weren't as strong as I'd hoped.
Getting an outside perspective is crucial, particularly for solo consultants. Without a team, you're flying blind. Whether it’s your spouse, friend, or fellow consultant, find people who can see what you can’t.
When I first created the Consultancy Growth Club, my aim was straightforward: help consultants directly grow their businesses. The community aspect initially felt secondary, more of a bonus.
Yet, organically, our community has become one of the most powerful components. I've realised we all need peers in our corner, trusted people facing similar challenges who can clearly identify strengths and spot the blind spots holding us back.
Supporting someone else through their challenges can also shine a revealing light on your own patterns and barriers. As you guide others, you're forced to confront and resolve your own self-doubts.
I've seen this dynamic repeatedly on our Friday community calls, it's why our members prioritise attending each week.
In our digital world, most consultancy interactions happen remotely. We forget how powerful meeting face-to-face can be. While digital connections are incredibly convenient, in-person interactions deepen trust, strengthen relationships, and significantly amplify impact.
Make time periodically to meet your peers in person, whether grabbing coffee, lunch, or spending a day together. The important thing is simply prioritising that personal connection.
The Consultancy Growth Club Breakthrough Day is happening precisely because our members asked for it. They understand the value of meeting face-to-face, building deeper bonds, finding breakthroughs, and clearly identifying next-quarter priorities.
We’d love you to join us on Friday 20th June. To make this as accessible as possible, I’m offering the special member rate of £295 + VAT to all consultancy owners attending this first event.
You’ll be supported by a room full of brilliant consultancy peers, each ready to help you clarify, simplify, and accelerate your path forward.
